Are you tired of annoying pop-up ads interrupting your phone experience? These ads can appear anywhere—on your home screen, lock screen, or even when no apps are open!
If you’re using a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (or any Android phone) and getting random ads, here’s how to stop them for good.
1.Uninstall Suspicious Apps
Most pop-up ads come from third-party apps you installed. To remove them:
Go to Settings > Apps.
Look for unknown or recently installed apps (especially free apps, launchers, or file managers).
Uninstall anything suspicious.
Tip: If you installed apps from outside the Google Play Store, they might be causing ads.
2.Disable Apps That “Appear on Top”
Some apps force ads by overlaying them on your screen. To block them:
Go to Settings > Apps.
Tap the three-dot menu (top-right) > Special access.
Select “Appear on top”.
Disable the permission for any app that shouldn’t be doing this.
3.Block Ads in Browsers (Samsung Internet & Chrome)
If pop-ups happen while browsing, you need to block them in your browser settings.
For Samsung Internet:
Open Samsung Internet > Tap the three lines (bottom-right).Settings > Sites and downloads > Block pop-ups.Ad blockers > Install an ad blocker like AdGuard.
For Google Chrome:
Open Chrome > Tap three dots (top-right).Settings > Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects > Block.Ads > Block intrusive ads.
4.Disable Samsung’s Built-In Ads
Samsung sometimes sends ads through its services. To stop them:
Go to Settings > Samsung account > Privacy.
Turn off “Receive marketing information”.
For Galaxy Store Ads:
Open Galaxy Store > Tap menu (three lines).Settings > Disable Receive marketing information.
5.Block Ads with Private DNS
Want to block ads system-wide? Use AdGuard DNS:
Go to Settings > Connections > More connection settings.
Tap Private DNS > Select Private DNS provider hostname.
Enter:
CopyEditdns.adguard.com
Tap Save.
6.Scan for Malware or Adware
If ads still appear, scan your phone for malware:
Go to Settings > Battery and device care.
Tap Device protection > Scan phone.
If malware is found, remove the app immediately!
7.Factory Reset (Last Resort Option)
If none of the above works, you may need to factory reset your phone:
Go to Settings > General Management > Reset.
Tap Factory data reset.
Follow the instructions (backup your data first!).
